Enrollment Verification POST 9/11® GI Bill – Chapter 33

WHAT IS MONTHLY ENROLLMENT VERIFICATION?

A requirement for Post-9/11 GI Bill® (Chapter 33) students to verify every month that you are still enrolled in the same courses that your school certified to VA. It’s not about verifying that you are attending classes, but whether your certified enrollment has changed.

Example:  School sent in enrolled in 16 credits and still in 16 credits.

If this changed and you dropped a class or credits decreased from original request, you need to contact SCO EWU VRC office to update.

WHO NEEDS TO VERIFY THEIR ENROLLMENT?

All Post-9/11 GI Bill students need to verify enrollment every month.  Does not matter if you are Undergraduate, Graduate, In Person, Online, Quarter or Semester.

I need to verify my enrollment what should I do?
VA Education Service

HOW DO I VERIFY ENROLLMENT?

If you don’t receive an initial text message from the VA to opt into text verification, call the Education Call Center (ECC) at 1-888-GIBILL-1 (1-888-442-4551).  Select ‘0’ Zero to talk to someone about your options.   They are in Muskogee, OK so time difference could be 2 hours ahead of most of us here in Washington State.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

If you received an opt-in text and replied, VA has received it. If you are opted into text message verification, you will receive a text on the last day of the month requesting you verify your enrollment.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I DON’T VERIFY MY ENROLLMENT?

If you fail to submit enrollment verification for two consecutive months, your MHA/kicker payments will be held until you verify your enrollment. For example, if your term starts on January 10, 2022 and you fail to verify your enrollment for January and February, your March 2022 payments will be placed on hold.

Payments are sent out on the first of the month and can take up to five days to arrive via electronic transfer.
