For more than 35 years, Eastern Washington University and its community partners have acknowledged outstanding area educators with the ‘Teacher of the Month’ award.
With area schools back in session, the first award-winner of the new academic year was recently named — Brita Gulseth, an instructor for On Track Academy.
She was nominated as the September Teacher of the Month by student Peggy Sue Bristol, who wrote:
“She (Brita) is popular with students, families, and colleagues. Her favorite part of teaching would be the relationships she has with her students. It is the most motivating part of her job because connection is everything. Students love her because she is kind, loving, fun, and cares about them. Brita gets to know every student in her class as a whole person. Brita can see exactly what each child brings to the community, and her whole teaching approach involves finding and using children’s unique strengths to help them overcome struggles.”
Gulseth was recently recognized during a presentation at the studios of KHQ, which along with Spokane Teachers Credit Union (STCU) are key partners in the monthly honor.
