Pick a variety of classroom jobs, where students can contribute to your classroom and be responsible for something. For example, Teachers Assistant, Paper Collector, Line Leader, Caboose, Lights, etc. These class jobs rotate weekly so that everyone gets a chance to do them.
This is a tool where you meet with each of your students every morning to check in with them on how their attitude is for the day. this could be a simple as a high five or even a talk with your class as a whole to see what they are feeling.
A timer can be useful during classroom, preparing for recess, or getting ready for a transition.
This tool is used to get students attention. The teacher will ring the bell and the students will put their hands on their heads.
Dr. Emotion is a puppet that can be used during community circles to address difficult situations involving emotions. Emotions affect our lives from day-to-day to moment-by-moment and sometimes we struggle with how to deal with our emotions.
My Favorite Mistakes help encourage the mindset that it is more than okay to make mistakes. This tool, best used in community circle, will help students see that we grow and learn from our mistakes.
The classroom environment is very important when taking into account how students are learning and what you are wanting when planning the lay out and materials in your room. Students can feel more attentive when learning and have a sense of enjoyment in being able to feel engaged and excited to be in the class community.
A wide range of students may struggle with anxiety and or adhd among other things within the classroom. Fidget tools when appropriately used are helpful for many students to relieve stress and aid focus in the classroom.
This tool is helpful for not only the students but for the teacher as well. Each student will have their name on a popsicle stick at the front of the classroom, beside two mason jars labeled hot and cold.
A calm down kit is a tool used to support students when they are in need of a break from having a difficult day.
