As usual, at the beginning of the new quarter, I am writing to kindly remind you that the JFK library offers research instruction and support for your courses. Please contact me if you&#8217;d like to schedule tailored library instruction for your class(es). In addition, if you would like to put instructional materials on Course Reserve, please get them ready in advance. Use the link below to fill out the Reserve Request Form.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ewu.edu\/library\/services\/course-reserve-materials\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/www.ewu.edu\/library\/services\/course-reserve-materials<\/a><\/p>\n<p>If you have questions or requests regarding the library\u2019s collections in support of your department and programs, I\u2019m happy to work with you on that as well.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, please review the list of new library electronic resources provided by Andy Eickholt, our Collection Management Librarian.<\/p>\n<p>New Library Electronic Resources for 2018-2019<\/p>\n<p><b>SpringerLink Education ebook Collection<\/b><br \/>\nAn education-focused ebook collection from publisher Springer \u2013 over 500 education-related ebook titles published in 2017 are now available to EWU users!<br \/>\nAn additional, smaller collection of ASCD education-related ebooks can also be found through Gale Virtual Reference Library<\/p>\n<p><b>Annual Reviews<\/b><br \/>\nCritical reviews in the subject areas of physical and social sciences. Offers primary research literature to guide researchers to the principal contributions in the field. Limited titles available online, including Psychology, Sociology, Public Health, Microbiology, and others from 2016 to present. Titles not accessible online may be requested through the EWU Interlibrary Loan process.<\/p>\n<p><b>SAGE Stats<\/b><br \/>\nSAGE Stats makes research easy by providing, in one place, annual measures dating back more than two decades. It features statistical data series created from more than 400,000 government and non-government datasets, covering popular topics of research interest for U.S. states, counties, cities, metropolitan areas, and ZIP codes. By harmonizing carefully-vetted data from multiple sources into the same format \u2013 allowing quick downloads, comparisons, and visualizations \u2013SAGE Stats provides power and context for researchers at all levels. Included data covers economy, education, crime, government finance, health, population, religion, social welfare, and transportation.<\/p>\n<p><b>SAGE Business Cases <\/b><br \/>\nThe SAGE Business Cases database comes with 2,500 currently published cases through 2018, with teaching notes available to aid teaching faculty in incorporating the resource into classroom use. Quickly and easily find authoritative cases for independent study, in-class lecture, or assigned reading. Explore real-life examples of successes and failures in the global business world to develop and foster practical business decision-making and analytical skills.<br \/>\nThe Sage Business case collection spans topics in management, accounting, finance, marketing, and entrepreneurship. (EWU Faculty can contact EWU Libraries Collection Services for access to teaching notes.)<\/p>\n<p><b>Past Masters (Intelex)<\/b><br \/>\nPhilosophical works including Aristotle, Dewey, Machievelli and others: a series of important texts and translations in the history of philosophy and thought.<\/p>\n<p><b>Education in Video, volume 2<\/b><br \/>\nStreaming videos, including demonstrations, lectures, and primary-source footage of students and teachers in actual classrooms from Alexander Street Press. The collection enables education students to observe the intricacies of behavior, tone, facial expression, and body language that define effective teaching styles, and includes a wealth of ready-to-use teaching aids to help link abstract theories of education to real-world students and classrooms \u2013 over 350 videos, more than 200 hours available!<\/p>\n<p>I look forward to working with you as we are about to start a new academic year.
