Why EWU
Eastern is a rapidly-growing, regional, comprehensive public university, located in Cheney, just 16 miles from Spokane, Washington’s second largest city. Founded in 1882, Eastern has evolved to meet the demands of an ever-changing workforce. Today’s Eastern offers 135 areas of study, including 39 graduate programs, 12 graduate certificates, and one applied doctorate. Our student body numbers more than 13,000, with over one-quarter from diverse backgrounds. Additionally, nearly 50% of our first-year students are first generation students.
Join a team dedicated to student success, faculty excellence and community collaboration. At Eastern, our goal is simple: to create an environment where students succeed at their highest level in fulfilling their goals in their education, career and life. Students are at the center of all that Eastern does. For our faculty and staff, this focus means more than just coming to work every day. We strive for excellence in everything we do; we foster a culture of respect, commitment and honesty; and we work to create environments for personal transformation that enrich the lives of individuals, families, communities and our society at large.
Working at Eastern also means living and working in a glorious region noted for its affordable housing, good schools, short commutes, over 220 sunny days per year, abundant lakes and mountains, short hops to larger cities (Seattle, Portland, Vancouver), and endless recreation opportunities.
