Program GSA Request form

This form is for faculty or staff to request a GSA tuition waiver. It is not for students to request a GSA. Students should work with their programs and monitor Handshake for available Graduate Service Appointment positions.

Processing GSA requests takes a few weeks. Multiple units on campus must approve and verify that the university has collected the correct documentation to meet state and federal law. If you have submitted this request within three weeks of the term, the student's waiver will likely not be created in time.

Fall Semester Priority Deadline is April, 30 2025. Final Semester Deadline is July 29, 2025.

Fall Quarter Deadline is September 1, 2025.

Approvals for Tuition Waivers

For teaching and research assistantships, the Dean's Office will review the funding.
For staff assistantships, the Graduate Programs Office will review these requests for an institutional commitment.
For grant-funded tuition waivers, the Grants Office and Graduate Programs Office will review these together. (If the student is on a grant that funds a tuition waiver, but it is not identified in this request, this will create further delay for the tuition waiver and may jeopardize the student's waiver for the first term.)

Start Date

The date the first pay period begins. For fall quarter 2025, it is Sept. 16. For semester, it's August 16.

End Date

The pay period ends in spring. For spring quarter 2026, the last pay period ends on June 14, 2026. For semester, it's April 30, 2026.

Per EWU Policy 407-01—Temporary Employment: Pay increases for all temporary employees are discretionary. Temporary employees are eligible for a pay increase when they have worked 450 hours at the same job in the same department. Pay increases will take effect in the pay period following the pay period in which the pay increase is approved
