All Faculty Brown Bag 4: Transparent Teaching
March 1, 2018 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Are you interested in helping your students understand the how and why of their learning? Would you like to know how to make your course assignments more transparent to ensure better student work?
Please join us at the Faculty Commons, or via Zoom, for the fourth All Faculty Brown Bag: Transparent Teaching, facilitated by and Dr. Justin Young, Associate Professor and Director of English Composition Program & Writers’ Center and Dr. Liya Deng, Assistant Professor, Library.
Transparent teaching principles emphasize clarity and precision (why and how) when creating course assignments to make learning a more meaningful activity for both students and instructors. This can be achieved through only a few small changes in your assignment design. This brown bag will focus on designing clearer, more equitable assignments for your students and thus increasing their motivation and engagement. If possible, please bring hard copies of an assignment you have used or will use in one of your classes, along with a laptop. You will have a chance to begin revising that assignment during the brown bag according to the principles of Transparent Teaching.
