Universal waste can be generated by both businesses and households. It is usually generated in relatively small quantities and is less harmful than waste that is designated as Hazardous Waste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Universal waste was previously disposed of with normal household trash. They must be recycled when they burn out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lights can be dropped off in the shed next to the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/test-inside.ewu.edu\/ehs\/about-us\/\">Waste Transfer Facility<\/a>. Please scroll to the bottom of the &#8220;About Us,&#8221; page to find the location of the Waste Transfer Facility or Call&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/test-inside.ewu.edu\/ehs\/about-us\/\">EH&amp;S<\/a>&nbsp;if you require assistance with these products.<\/p>\n\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"gb-grid-column gb-grid-column-eb2336d1\"><div class=\"gb-container gb-container-eb2336d1\">\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading has-contrast-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-d8fd08cdaf21540ad0c14650b0379d75\">Mercury Containing Thermometers, Thermostats and Gauges<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Contact EH&amp;S for disposal of mercury containing items.&nbsp;<strong>Place unbroken items in a bucket<\/strong>&nbsp;for EH&amp;S to collect, or take the bucket to the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/test-inside.ewu.edu\/ehs\/about-us\/\">Waste Transfer Facility<\/a>. Please scroll to the bottom of the &#8220;About Us,&#8221; page to find the location of the Waste Transfer Facility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Contact<a href=\"http:\/\/test-inside.ewu.edu\/ehs\/about-us\/\">&nbsp;EH&amp;S<\/a>&nbsp;(x6496) immediately for broken or leaking mercury containing items.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"gb-grid-column gb-grid-column-c786c691\"><div class=\"gb-container gb-container-c786c691\">\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading has-contrast-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-ae706aa72cc0b063f409d46a054c4011\">Electronics &amp; Household Appliances<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Electronics and household appliances can contain lead and mercury.<\/strong>&nbsp;Proper disposal is important to keep toxic substances out of the landfill and prevent their release into the environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Contact&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/test-inside.ewu.edu\/surplus\/\">Surplus Sales<\/a>&nbsp;(x7377) for electronic waste and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/test-inside.ewu.edu\/facilities\/facilities-services\/hauling-and-moving-guidelines\/\">Transportation Services<\/a>&nbsp;(x4835) for household appliance waste.<\/p>\n\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"gb-grid-column gb-grid-column-0496ff22\"><div class=\"gb-container gb-container-0496ff22\">\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading has-contrast-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-bc74e31c1c9e1ec0cbf3149220cb03f5\">Ink Cartridges<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Used ink cartridges can be recycled with the University Post Office.
