Building Captain Program

This program is designed to promote safety education, awareness, and training in all buildings on Eastern’s campus. It focuses on the safety of building occupants through the timely dissemination of information and improved identification of safety hazards.

Each occupied building will have at least one Building Captain.  Buildings may have  more than one Building Captain based on the size of the building and number of occupants.

Employees must have their supervisor’s approval to become a building captain as it will require a small amount of time away from work to complete trainings.

Building Captain Overview

Building Captains provide education and disseminate information that is intended to increase safety awareness and facilitate evacuations. During emergencies and emergency tests, the Building Captains will aid first responders by identifying persons unaccounted for or unable to evacuate and assist as needed.

During emergencies, the Cheney Fire Department will always assume on-scene command as trained first responders.
