{"id":35898,"date":"2024-05-29T14:59:57","date_gmt":"2024-05-29T21:59:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/test-inside.ewu.edu\/educgrad\/?page_id=35898"},"modified":"2024-10-07T14:19:22","modified_gmt":"2024-10-07T21:19:22","slug":"leadership-online","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/test-inside.ewu.edu\/educgrad\/leadership-online\/","title":{"rendered":"Online Programs &#8211; Leadership"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"gb-container gb-container-bb9bf19e\">\n<div class=\"gb-container gb-container-eded19e1\">\n\n<h2 class=\"gb-headline gb-headline-92aa25d3 gb-headline-text\">Educational Leadership<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"gb-headline gb-headline-f8fde685 gb-headline-text\">Online Master of Education Program<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n<div class=\"gb-container gb-container-bcdf0548\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"gb-container gb-container-07b52857\">\n\n<h2 class=\"gb-headline gb-headline-b9c8c3a0 gb-headline-text\">Program Description<\/h2>\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n<div class=\"gb-container gb-container-61b39d0b\">\n\n<h6 class=\"gb-headline gb-headline-0a6111b0 gb-headline-text\">EWU\u2019s Master\u2019s of Educational Leadership (MEd) is designed for educators seeking advanced professional learning and training for positions in P-12 education and other professional settings.&nbsp; Our course of study includes a professional internship (120 hours) specific to the work setting of each candidate.<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"gb-headline gb-headline-afc9c572 gb-headline-text\">Candidates in our MEd program that are interested in earning their Washington State Principal Certificate can transfer some of their coursework for required classes.&nbsp; The Principal Certification process requires our candidates to complete a one year internship of at least (540 hours) working within a school setting over the course of a full school year.&nbsp; These one year Principal Internships are available for candidates to begin at the start of each Fall Quarter.<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"gb-headline gb-headline-150320ad gb-headline-text\">Our candidates will study and engage in learning experiences that provide opportunities to develop the leadership skills and practices for managing personnel, giving and receiving constructive feedback, creating accountability structures, and evaluating staff members.&nbsp; Our program is designed to engage and empower educators to further develop their own leadership style through self-awareness and consistent practice of effective leadership behaviors.&nbsp; Our candidates learn how to create healthy partnerships with staff, students, families, and community members with patience and empathy.<\/h6>\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n<div class=\"gb-container gb-container-3979376a\">\n\n<h2 class=\"gb-headline gb-headline-51b1a331 gb-headline-text\">Sequence of Courses<\/h2>\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n<div class=\"gb-container gb-container-d53e0596\">\n\n<p>The Sequence of Courses is a document that serves to outline the order in which courses are offered and can be completed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In most cases there is a choice between full-time (two courses per session\/6-weeks), or part-time (one course per session\/6-weeks), or a combination of full- and part-time depending upon candidate needs. You must complete Internship I before Internship II. Each internship accounts for 60 hours of working with students, reading, writing\/reflecting, meetings, interviews, actual work on topic, and assignments in Canvas. Candidates will identify written assignments from their courses to revise. Candidates are also required to explain, through a reflection, how these written assignments align with program outcomes. The portfolio class is accessed through Canvas modules.<\/h6>\n\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"gb-container gb-container-507b7365\">\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"gb-headline gb-headline-4b4ec5c3 gb-headline-text\">Comprehensive Exam<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>EDUC 654<\/strong>&nbsp;&#8211; The purpose of the Comprehensive Examination is to assess knowledge and understanding of specified core courses and evaluate whether students are academically prepared for their role in education. The Comprehensive Examination requires students to demonstrate the ability to synthesize knowledge gained from courses in the Master of Education degree program and write an academically appropriate response.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This exam consists of three (3) academic papers to be submitted during weeks 2, 3, and 4 during a 6-week session. Students will receive one question each week and have one week to complete each paper. Questions are not made available until the time of the exam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The expectation for writing is 12-15 pages per question (not including the title and reference pages). Any writing over 15 pages&nbsp;<strong><em>will not be read<\/em><\/strong>.&nbsp; The expectation is a scholarly writing piece, using clear, concise words, with correct use of academic language, and APA citations (including a reference page).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students will receive notification of pass\/fail result via email by the Wednesday following the end of the session. This exam is pass\/fail, but candidates must pass all three questions to receive a &#8216;Pass.&#8217; If it is deemed that the candidate did not pass one or more questions, they will have one opportunity for a retake in a subsequent session. Each question not passed is retaken at one additional credit. In this event, the School of Education will contact the candidate with information on registration for any additional comprehensive exam sessions.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"gb-container gb-container-8f89de7d\">\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"gb-headline gb-headline-4da1e538 gb-headline-text\">Graduation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"gb-headline gb-headline-818a4bba gb-headline-text\">The final step in completing the program is submitting the Graduation Application Form. All graduate students are required to complete a Graduation Application. This form is used by EWU&#8217;s Graduate Studies Office to ensure completion of all coursework necessary for the master&#8217;s degree or graduate certificate. To have your name included in the commencement program, the graduation application must be submitted by February 1.
