Tableau (Aggregate Student Data)

Institutional Research provides a number of reports/dashboards that allow campus users to drill down into aggregate student data.

Each dashboard is equipped with several filter options which allow the user to customize each report to their specific needs.

What is needed to run Student data reports?

For student data access, all users need is a Tableau account, which is available for all faculty and staff at EWU. The request is as easy as a flip of a switch and does not cost you or your department anything. Think about this more as an account activation than a permissions request. To request access to Tableau please follow this link.

Note: you may already have access, try running a Tableau report below before submitting the request.

Dashboards

Below you will find a catalog of reports available for student data, you can also view the entire student report library here:

Enrollment

  • Census Enrollment – On the 10th day of each quarter/semester, a freeze of the data is completed, this is considered the most stable and representative sample of the student population. This report allows users to view trends of student headcounts filterable by a large selection of student demographics and characteristics.
  • Daily Enrollment Trends – Track, and compare to prior years, the daily enrollment of students in a future term all the way up to the first day. Filter down to identify specific populations and set a subscription to be delivered to your inbox daily.
  • Term Retention – How many, and what percentage, of students have registered for the upcoming term? Check the aggregate retention rate with this dashboard and filter down to identify specific populations of students.
  • Fall-over-Fall New Student Retention – One of the most common Higher Education industry bench marks is the 1st to 2nd year retention rate for new students. View, and compare, fall-over-fall retention rates with this dashboard.

Graduation

  • New Student Graduation Rates – Similar to fall-over-fall retention, graduation rates are also widely considered a higher education bench mark. This dashboard displays the 4 and 6 year graduation rates for fall cohorts of students.
  • Graduate Headcount – This dashboard displays the number of graduates by college, department, major and minor in any given term or student level.

Grades & Course

  • DFW Dashboard – Use this dashboard to provide summary statistics for differing course grade outcomes. For instance: what happens to a student that fails basket-weaving 101?
