Deleting & Cancelling Sections

Sections may be deleted or cancelled based on phase, mode, and institution policies.  This is controlled by either rules, mode, or phase editing access. In most cases, in Design Mode, sections may be deleted, and in Refine Mode, sections will be cancelled.   Below are the instructions for deleting a section and cancelling a section. 

Cancelling Sections in CLSS

  1. Navigate to the CLSS Terms screen
  2. Click to open an Term
  3. Double-click to open a scheduling unit
  4. Double-click to view sections
  5. Double-click to open the section to be cancelled 
  6. Click the Status dropdown and select the appropriate “Cancel” status
  7. Make any other institution-required changes to the section. Examples could be: changing the instructor to staff, zeroing out the enrollment, removing the classroom, etc.
  1. Click  “Save Section”

Note: There may be workflow approvals or other rules attached to the cancelling of the section based on institution. Follow any additional steps based on warnings, workflow approvals, or errors.

Deleting a Single Section

  1. Navigate to the CLSS Terms screen
  2. Click to open an Term
  3. Double-click to open a scheduling unit
  4. Double-click the course to view sections within
  5. Click the red X button to the left of the section
  1. Click OK to confirm

Deleting All Sections of a Course

  1. Navigate to the CLSS Terms screen
  2. Click to open an Term
  3. Double-click to open a scheduling unit
  4. Click the View By button to choose to view by Course
  5. Double-click a course title to view sections for that course
  6. Click the red X button to the right of the course (next to the plus button)
  1. Click OK to confirm

Note: Sections may be deleted or cancelled based on phase, mode, and institution policies. In most cases, in Design Mode, sections may be deleted, and in Refine Mode, sections will be cancelled. 


Alternative Cancellation Methods

If the class has enrollments of 8 or more students cannot be cancelled through CLSS. An email with approval from the Department Chair and Associate Dean to cancel the section should be forwarded to regschedule@ewu.edu for manual processing.


Recreating Deleted Sections

Unfortunately, once a section is deleted, it cannot be undone. You will need to recreate the section using the Framer tool or from scratch.
