EWU is committed to honoring and supporting the various religions observed by our campus community. EWU’s process for submitting religious accommodations is contained in EWU Policy 403-01: Holidays & Religious Accommodations. We encourage you to read the policy before submitting a request for a religious accommodation.
Students may submit a request for a religious accommodation using the Student Religious Accommodation Request form available here.
Employees (including student employees) and volunteers may submit a request for a religious accommodation using the following form, which will be reviewed by the Director of Civil Rights Investigations & Accessibility. EWU engages in an interactive process to determine which accommodations it can provide. Requests may be denied if they constitute an undue hardship or a fundamental alteration of EWU’s educational programs or activities.
If a request for a religious accommodation is denied by the Director of Civil Rights Investigations & Accessibility, the person submitting the request may file a written appeal within 14 days by contacting the Associate Vice President for Civil Rights at ascharosch@ewu.edu. The Associate Vice President or designee will coordinate with the appropriate reviewing official. Academic issues will be reviewed by the dean of the applicable academic college. The reviewing official’s decision is final.
