AMillionThanks.org distributes letters to U.S. troops stationed around the world. The organization was founded by Shauna Fleming, a high schooler at the time, in 2004. They have distributed over seven million letters. The organization sends a box of about 1,000 letters to an individual service member and they then distribute the letters to their unit.

The Last Road Dog Animal Sanctuary

The Last Road Dog Animal Sanctuary is owned and operated by the Pitt family. TLRD is an organization that take in dogs, cats, and horses that might not have a chance to be adopted or are forgotten by their families, due to various ailments or behavioral issues. They give them a home to spend the rest of their lives and become part of the Pitt family. Their mission is to prevent cruelty to animals in need of medical attention, subject to danger or abuse, hungry or starving, or under any other distress or cruelty. They also adopt animals from owners in distressed situations where they might not be able to care for their animals any longer.

Salvation Army

The Salvation Army provides a large range of basic human need services. These services consist of disaster relief, helping families with holiday giving, providing LGBTQ support, having a commitment to diversity, creating homeless shelters and food pantries, providing grassroots services, rehabilitation services, spiritual healing, job training, veteran services, services for aging, and helping victims of domestic abuse.

The non-profit organization uses the plarn individuals and volunteers donate and make to knit bedding for the homeless. Plarn is repurposing plastic bags into yarn. The organization uses The plarn bedding is waterproof and warm for the homeless facing the harsh weather conditions outside

Seedlings Braille Books for Children

Seedlings Braille Books for Children is non-profit organization devoted to providing free and low-cost braille books for children and increasing the opportunity for literacy for children who have visual impairments. It provides popular literature for braille readers in all 50 states and over 75 foreign countries. They give away about half of their books and sell the rest for a small fraction of what it costs to makes them. Their funding comes from individuals, philanthropic groups, corporations and private foundations. At this time, less than 20% of the 50,000 blind children in the United States are proficient in braille; often, written words have been inaccessible to them, and this is what seedlings is working to change!

Shriners Hospital

The purpose of the organization is to provide compassionate and innovative care, conduct research, and offer educational opportunities. Shriners Children’s is a hospital that provides personalized care to children all over the world. They do this by achieving their purpose as stated above.
