No Bake Doggie Treats

For this project, students will be learning about animal shelters and their role in our local community. After that, students will get to make no bake doggie treats and donate them to SpokAnimal animal shelter. After they finish making their treats they will get to go on SpokAnimal’s website and choose the dog they would like to donate their treats to.

Thank you Cards

With my first grade class we contacted Spokane, Washington State Troopers, and had a State Trooper come into our classroom to share with our class what a trooper does for our community. The trooper let the students ask him questions and get to build a relationship with our local patrol. After the visit the students wrote thank you letters for the troopers in Spokane.

First Aid Certification

American Red Cross

The middle school and high school students I did my project with worked with The American Red Cross to get their first aid certification. They went to a training and worked with teachers and coaches of the local school district to help them get CPR and first aid certified. This certification allows students to be a valuable asset to their communities and help people who are in a potential medical emergency.

Collecting pens & pencils

The project I did was collecting pens and pencils in class with my students. I worked with the organization Right to Write which takes new or gently used pens and pencils to children in schools, hospitals, and orphanages in underprivileged countries. My students were each asked to bring in or find 10 pens or pencils over a weeks time. 200 fit into one ziplock bag which is their preferred way of shipment because it fits so easily into suitcases.
