The Tilth Alliance has a number of garden programs that are aimed to educate the community. They have urban farms, gardens, and kitchens where community members can participate in hands-on experiences to become educated. They offer classes to help get your own garden or farm started. They even have a hotline for any questions. They provide education, funding, conferences, and advocacy for farming and agriculture in Washington state.
The Community for the Advancement of Family Education (CAFE) is a non-profit organization located in Wenatchee, WA. CAFE aims to advance family and community growth through education. They provide opportunities in leadership, civic and social engagement, literacy development, and academic achievement.
Provide, promote, and coordinate park maintenance as well as recreational and cultural opportunities in a safe and healthy environment for the benefit and enjoyment of the Cheney community.
Seedlings Braille Books for Children is non-profit organization devoted to providing free and low-cost braille books for children and increasing the opportunity for literacy for children who have visual impairments. It provides popular literature for braille readers in all 50 states and over 75 foreign countries. They give away about half of their books and sell the rest for a small fraction of what it costs to makes them. Their funding comes from individuals, philanthropic groups, corporations and private foundations. At this time, less than 20% of the 50,000 blind children in the United States are proficient in braille; often, written words have been inaccessible to them, and this is what seedlings is working to change!
Art Salvage Spokane seeks to promote reuse and creativity for students, teachers, artists, crafters and makers of all ages. This organization educates and inspires innovative creative reuse and sustainability in our local communities. To accomplish this, Art Salvage Spokane takes donations of all sorts of materials and reuses them for creative projects that anyone and everyone can participate in.
Spokane Arts supports arts and culture in the region through grant making, programming, advocacy, and professional development. They foster creativity by providing direct support to individuals, groups, and organizations in the creative sector, and promote local arts and culture to the wider community.
