The Spokane Sheriff’s Community Oriented Policing Effort is a local organization that actively and continually assists local law enforcement. They are volunteers who often work as a bridge between law enforcement and the citizens of Spokane. They assist law enforcement with tasks that don’t require a commissioned deputy to complete and are relied upon to help families in crisis where law enforcement has been involved.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of America is centered around one-on-one mentoring relationships between adults and children. Mentors are intended to participate in a variety of activities with children such as playing sports, hiking, reading books, or just spending time together. There are school-based programs where the child and the mentor meet in school, inside or outside the classroom. Big Brothers Big Sisters also runs five special mentoring programs for specific demographics: African-American Mentoring, Hispanic Mentoring, Native American Mentoring.
As stated on their website, “Goodwill works to enhance people’s dignity and quality of life by strengthening their communities, eliminating their barriers to opportunity, and helping them reach their full potential through learning and the power of work.” They provide people an opportunity to train for various jobs in certain industries as well as provide them a variety of supportive services like English Language training. Their efforts have had an impact at least 35 million people worldwide
The Kindness Rocks project was originally started to spread kindness throughout a small community. It quickly grew into a project that encourages people to leave painted rocks with inspiring and kind messages along all paths of life. The mission of the Kindness Rocks Project is,“One message At just the right moment Can change someone’s entire day, Outlook, Life.”
The purpose of the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office is to be a positive influence in the community. This is accomplished by promoting and delivering quality services that result in citizen’s feeling safe and secure. The organization is composed of highly motivated professionals who provide resources to maintain communitywide security.
The Washington State Patrol makes a difference every day, enhancing the safety and security of our state by providing the best in public safety services. They provide service to our citizens with humility and work on making everyone feel as safe as possible.
