MultiCare Rockwood Clinic Student Health Services

EWU student health coverage through MultiCare Rockwood provides a variety of health services to students such as Primary Care, Urgent Care, STD/STI care & pregnancy testing. Who is Eligible for Student Health Services? Expand Students registered for six (6) or more credits:

  • Undergrad and graduate students are eligible to receive clinical services through any MultiCare Rockwood Clinic in Spokane County, each quarter (fall, winter, and spring) in which they are registered for six (6) or more credits.
  • Quarter students may visit Multicare Rockwood Clinic ONCE per quarter, and semester students may visit Multicare Rockwood Clinic TWICE per semester.
Students registered for less than six (6) credits:
Students can request voluntary participation at any EWU financial services office. Request and payment must be received by the tenth day of each quarter.
  • Summer coverage is voluntary, even if you’re taking summer classes!
  • These services are not included as part of summer tuition and fees.
  • Students requesting summer services must be registered for summer classes OR be a continuing student in the fall quarter.
  • The health fee must be paid during the summer open enrollment up to the 10th day of the first session.
When do Services Start/End? Expand

Quarter Students:

  • Fall quarter: student health service coverage begins the first Monday prior to the start of fall classes and ends the day before a new quarter begins.
  • Winter and Spring quarters: coverage begins on the first day of class.

Semester Students:

  • Semester term: coverage begins the first day of classes and last day of classes or graduation.

Additional Info:

  • Summer Term (if you’ve opted into it): coverage begins the first day of the first session.
  • There is no lapse in coverage for continuing students during winter break or spring break.
  • Please check clinic hours for holiday and weekend availability.
How do I Access Services? Expand
  • Students eligible for health services must present their EWU identification card at the time of their visit to any MultiCare Rockwood Family Medicine Clinic or Urgent Care Center in Spokane County.
  • Remember to identify yourself as an EWU student currently eligible for the health services when scheduling an appointment.
  • If you are unclear about which services are covered and which are not, contact the student health clinic at 509-235-6151 during regular office hours before you receive care.

  • It is recommended to carry your private insurance card with you and show at the time of services as well.
  • Please note: MultiCare Rockwood Clinic does bill private insurance for expenses that are not covered under the student health plan. However, we may not be able to bill some insurances, or your health insurance provider may not allow you to be seen by a Rockwood provider.
  • Some insurance plans have deductibles and copays that need to be met.
  • Please contact the Rockwood Clinic location nearest you or the customer service department of your health insurance plan to discuss the status of your private health insurance.
  • EWU student health services will not pay for any emergency department, hospital visits, or major procedures or surgeries. Any care received out of the Rockwood Clinic system is the responsibility of the student.
  • Students are responsible for any outstanding charges that are not covered under the Student Health contract with Multicare Rockwood Clinic.

Urgent Care/Walk-In Clinics

You may visit any Rockwood location that offers Primary Care, Family Medicine or Urgent Care.  Some sites may require an appointment.Urgent Care and walk-in visits are for immediate care needs.  You should make an appointment for routine or non-urgent concerns.  Failure to cancel within 24 hours or missed appointments are subject to Multicare Rockwood Clinics no-show policy which may affect your ability to obtain care.

Any referral to any facility will be the student’s responsibility.  This coverage does not include emergency room, ambulance, specialty care or hospital services.

Please note: MultiCare Rockwood system may not be able to bill your insurance or your health provider may not allow you to be seen by a Multicare Rockwood provider. Please contact the MultiCare Rockwood location nearest you to discuss the status of your personal health insurance.

Exceptions:

Indigo Urgent Care Services are not included with the Comprehensive Health and Wellness Program fee.  Any care or services provided through Indigo Urgent Care is the responsibility of the student.

MultiCare Rockwood Student Health Clinic Services are not available outside of Spokane County.

Running Start students are not eligible for the Comprehensive Health and Wellness Program or any services included in the fee.
