Food Cabinets

There are 8 food cabinets at EWU Cheney, 1 located outside of room 218 in Spokane’s Catalyst Building and 1 located under the stairs at the back of EWU’s SIERR Nursing Suite.

Each cabinet is filled with non-perishable food items and hygiene products.

The cabinets can be accessed during the opening hours of the building in which they are located in (see map below for specific details on locations within buildings).

Each cabinet is “adopted” by an EWU club or organization whose members restock their assigned cabinet each week.

Visitors are asked to complete a quick “check-out” survey whenever they take something from the cabinet.

Please email foodpantry@ewu.edu or message @ewu_foodpantries on Instagram with questions or if you are in need of accommodations.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to “qualify” to use the pantry? Expand

Any EWU student, staff or faculty member is welcome to utilize the pantry program. We only ask you present an EWU ID.

We do not ask for income or proof of address. We do ask for an email address for the purpose of being able to contact guests in the case that there is a recall on a food item.

What do I need to bring when I go to the pantry? Expand

Please bring your EWU ID.

If you have been assigned a pantry pin, we ask that you remember it so that you can complete the check-out survey before you leave. Please also bring a reusable bag for your selections. We only have a limited amount available.

How much food can I take when I go to the pantry? Expand

Guests are encouraged to take the amount of food that they will use and to keep in mind that we also serve other guests.

How many times can I utilize the pantry? Expand

Guests are encouraged to utilize the pantry as many times as they feel necessary and to keep in mind that we also serve other guests.

Why do I need to complete an intake form on my first visit? Expand

We must collect an email address from each guest so that if there is a recall on a food item, we are able to contact everyone. The information collected on the intake form is intended to get to know who we serve so that we can better serve you all and improve the pantry program. Also, in order to uphold our partnerships with our donors, we are required to submit the age groups of the individuals that we serve and the amount of food that is distributed.

How Can I Help? Expand
