The EWU food pantry is open two days a week during the quarter and once a week during breaks. It offers a shopping style option. Bring a bag and your EagleCard to access this free resource! The Interactive Campus Map can be used to locate food pantry locations on campus.
Part of Cheney Outreach Center, the Cheney Food Cupboard is a shopper’s choice style pantry and open Wednesdays from 8:30AM -2:30PM.
Provides an information and referral service for the North County. Provides a free clothing bank, Deer Park food bank, emergency services, counseling services, furniture, and household items. GED program also available.
One of our pantry suppliers, Second Harvest brings community resources together to feed people in need through empowerment, education and partnerships in Eastern Washington. Their website has a Food Bank Locator. They also host mobile markets, offering a free “shopping” experience to anyone in need.
SNAP (or Basic Food) is a government program providing low-income with funds for groceries. WIC provides free groceries for pregnant and breastfeeding parents, and for children under 5. They also offer nutrition counseling and breastfeeding support. More information is available at www.washingtonconnection.org.
Clothing ExpandEWU Professional Clothing Closet
Located in Williamson as part of the Education program, this clothing closet is open to EWU students by appointment only. Contact Stephanie Lauritzen via email at slauritzen@ewu.edu to set up a time to visit!
The clothing bank is open four days a week (Tues – Fri) during regular business hours (10:00 am to 2:30 pm). City Gate provides a wide variety of clothing, shoes, coats, blankets and toiletries for men, women and teenagers. Each guest may use the clothing bank services one time per month as needed. Please visit at 10am OR 12:30pm, to ensure an appointment that day.
Free clothing, makeup, and personal hygiene items for women. YWCA Sister’s Closet will even help you put together appropriate outfits for interviews, work, school, or court. Email oursisterscloset@ywcaspokane.org for more information.
Housing ExpandCatholic Charities
Catholic Charities offers assistance for securing long-term, short-term, and emergency housing with several shelter locations in Spokane. Catholic Charities serves all ages and genders.
Family Promise
Family Promise serves families in the Spokane area, providing assistance for long- and short-term housing as well as an emergency shelter in the downtown area.
Volunteers of America
Volunteers of America has a variety of housing services in Spokane County including Hope House for female-identifying people over 18 and a young adult shelter for people 18-24, including couples.
A free crisis shelter with a long-term residential option for women and women with children (boys under 10 only). They offer counseling groups, life skills classes, educational/vocational learning center, parenting classes, personal enrichment opportunities, fun activities, exercise, diet and nutrition, case management, opportunities for health management and medical care. Admission process requires attending orientation held at Anna Ogden Hall most Fridays – call 509-327-7737 to RSVP.
Hope House Spokane Women’s Shelter
Hope House offers shelter from the streets to any woman. 100 shelter beds are available each night. Each woman receives personal care including: nutritious food, a hot shower clean, clean and dry clothing, hygiene items, a warm bed, onsite case management, resource information, connection to permanent housing, and referrals to community resources.
House of Charity is a low-barrier emergency shelter in Spokane. The HOC provides emergency services including meals, shelter, and case management to an underserved population of homeless, transient, and poor individuals in the Spokane area.
Spokane Housing Authority offers affordable housing and housing choice vouchers to qualifying low-income families. For more information please call 509.328.2953.
St. Margaret’s ensures that families coming from homelessness, incarceration or drug treatment or fleeing domestic violence have safe and welcoming living spaces. They offer stabilization services that are driven by the families we serve and provide housing and vocational experts to assist families with resources and connections to community partners and programs. Their goal is to serve as a brief stop that helps families’ on their path toward moving in to their permanent, new home.
WA Department of Commerce Office of Youth Homelessness
Offering five priority service areas to teens and young adults: Stable Housing, Family Reconciliation, Permanent Connections, Education & Employment, and Social & Emotional Wellbeing.
First come, first serve for 18-24 year-olds. Open 7:30pm – 6:30am. All genders and identities are welcome, including couples.
Healthcare ExpandCHAS Health is a non-profit federally qualified health center providing quality medical, dental, pharmacy, and behavioral health services to families and individuals of all ages, regardless of background, insurance status, or ability to pay. They can also help identify insurance options for low-income clients.
MultiCare Rockwood Clinic – Cheney
Healthcare providers at MultiCare Rockwood Cheney Clinic treat a wide range of health conditions, emphasizing disease prevention and health promotion. Students at Eastern Washington University are eligible to receive clinical services through our clinic each quarter. You must be registered for six credits or more. If you would like more information or want to make an appointment, call 509-235-6151. They are located on 7th Street between Elm and Cedar Streets, behind Emmanuel Lutheran Church.

Planned Parenthood of Greater Washington and North Idaho
PPGWNI offers a variety of healthcare services to people of all genders including TeleHealth and in-person appointments, birth control and STD testing by mail, sports physicals, and yearly check-ups.
